This kit contains replacement components for a Zoom 9002 which has the following symptoms:
When you can still hear the AUX input, Metronome and tuner, but you have no output of the guitar signal. Some 9002's that have not failed completely will have a warm up period or a wining or ringing sound or patches with the compression enabled may have no output. Soldering and circuit board component removal skills are required to do this repair. Removing and replacing the daughter board to access the last capacitor for the compression circuit is difficult, if you do not have good soldering skills, consider e-lectronics ZOOM 9002 repair service Do it your selfers, click here to view Zoom 9002 repair images . Although your zoom may be repairable by replacing only one or two capacitors, the others are on their way out, do your self a favor and replace all of them. With age, the electrolyte in these electrolytic capacitors are drying up or leaking out the base. Many Zooms are still functioning although performance is degrading as the capacitors slowly fails, effects become weaker and sound quality is compromised. Replacing these capacitors will breath the life back into your 9002 for that sound no other processor can match....you know the one! Kit Contents: - 1- High speed IC7660 Charge pump DC voltage converter* (see note at bottom)
- Written description of repair process
- 13- Surface mount capacitors
included capacitors - C56- 10mF 16v (charge pump capacitor)
- 10mF 16v for compression circuit under daughter-board
- C55 & C54- 47mF 6v (negative voltage charge reservoir capacitor)
- C53 & C52- 47mF 16v
- C40 & C41- 22mF 6v
- C51 & C50- 22mF 6v
- C49- 100mF 6v
- C45 & C42- 100mF 6v (headphone out) These will cause your headphone output to weaken or fail
- 10 pin header for replacing daughter-board after removal
This kit contains the components which are the most common cause of the symptoms listed above, I have seen several other common failures including broken header pins and cracked solder joints which are not covered in this kit. Keep in mind that I only guarantee this kit to be of the components listed, a successfully repair is dependent on your abilities to solder the components therefore does not come with any implied warranties of a successful zoom 9002 repair. If you are not sure of you ability, send it to e-lectronics.net! If you have additional questions about this, please do contact me! * Note: Using a standard 10khz 7660 chip will cause a ringing on the signal, you can use this chip with a cap across the input of the chip but I highly recommend just using a high frequency chip like the ones included in this kit with an oscillator above 20 kHz which the human ear can not hear.
